Identify primary audience and adjust word choice and structure (CCSS W.5.4)

Apply the MG-7 audience-analysis card to every essay: WHO is the primary reader, WHAT do they already know, WHAT do they need, WHAT TONE fits. Adjust WORD CHOICE (simpler vs. technical, formal vs. warm) and STRUCTURE (lead with story for general reader vs. lead with claim for expert reader) based on the answers. Document audience choice on the AUDIENCE-ANALYSIS card stapled inside the front cover of the essay.
