Common misconceptions
- Uses parenthetical citation but forgets the comma between author and year, or places the period before instead of after the parenthetical.
- Mixes signal-phrase AND parenthetical in the same sentence redundantly ('According to Woodson, words are magic (Woodson 2014)') — pick ONE per attribution.
