Recognize and use suffixes -tion and -ment ('act, state, or result of')
Identify -tion and -ment suffixes; strip the suffix to find the verb root; convert verbs to nouns by adding -tion or -ment (act → action, move → movement, agree → agreement, attend → attention, direct → direction). Notice the noun-form function: -tion and -ment turn a verb into the noun naming the act or result.

Common misconceptions
- Strips -tion from 'station' and tries to find 'sta' as the root (false positive: not all -tion words derive from a recognizable English verb).
- Spells the -tion suffix as -shun phonetically ('aktion' for 'action').
