Common misconceptions
  • Drawing the route as a 'side view' (street trees on horizon) rather than aerial / top-down
  • Omitting the compass rose or the key (the map needs both to be readable)
  • Mixing scale wildly (the house tiny, one tree huge) — accept K scale but coach toward 'small things small'
