Helpers, jobs, and what people need (economics light)

Recognize that people do JOBS to provide GOODS (food, clothing, books, mail) and SERVICES (care, teaching, safety) for one another. Identify a few goods (apple, book, letter, bandage) and a few services (teaching a class, putting out a fire, healing a hurt knee).

Common misconceptions
  • Believing only physical objects are 'goods' from helpers (misses that a doctor provides a service, not a good)
  • Believing helpers help for free without any system (introduces the word 'job' deliberately)
