Common misconceptions
- Drifts between past and present mid-paragraph without noticing ('I walked into the room and she is sitting' — mixes past and present).
- Over-corrects and forces past tense even when a present-tense generalization is intended ('Every spring birds migrated' — the generalization needs present 'migrate').
