G1
eng.g1.s.gr.compound_sentences_so_because
Use because and so to show cause and effect in compound sentences
Use 'because' to give a reason and 'so' to show a result. Constrained slice of the Year-2 NC subordination expectation introduced one term early because Grade-1 oral language already deploys these terms freely.

Common misconceptions
- Swaps because/so directions: writes 'It rained so we got wet' as 'It rained because we got wet' (cause-effect reversed).
- Treats 'because' as a sentence-starter only and forgets it can join mid-sentence.
