Dangling Participle Repair

Each sentence has a dangling participle. Apply the 3-step repair: find the phrase / find the intended subject / rephrase. (1) 'Walking through the gallery, the paintings were striking.' (2) 'Broken by neglect, the family found the door creaky.' (3) 'Reading slowly, the metaphor became clear.'

1. Step 1: name the participial phrase.
2. Step 2: find who should be doing the action (the intended subject).
3. Step 3: rewrite so the subject of the main clause matches.
